The planer thicknesser arrived from Germany within 3 days. Well packed , without a scratch. Simple assembly, tables are true and square, no adjustment needed . The major point of criticism is the planer/jointer fence which is hard to adjust. Once adjusted, it is square but still wobbly. I attached a provisional extra fence support (straight board attached to the infeed table with a clamp and appropriate spacers) which resulted in a stable fence. However, set up time for the fence then is a bit long. A minor point of criticism is that it takes quite some time to switch from planing to thicknessing mode since the fence has to be slided away and tilted to place the dust extraction hood. This also means that the fence has to be re-adjusted again to square once you go back to planing/jointing. Last point of critique is a bit of snipe ( i.e. the last few centimeters of a board are not perfectly thickened) when you thickness boards. Think this unavoidable given the short thicknessing table. Planing results are really impressively smooth but I think you should not try to take off more than 0.25 or 0.5 mm at a time. All in all I managed to get well squared longer beams ( 2.4 pine) and stably jointed and thicknessed shorter tropical hardwood boards. Given the price of the machine it is well worth its money.
